Marissa Thompson

Marissa Thompson is one of the top-ranked young riders in Central America. She began riding at the age of five and quickly rose through the ranks, earning multiple consecutive national titles in the Children’s and Junior divisions in Panama.

Her international career includes top placings at the South American Championships in Chile and Argentina, a Circuit Championship title at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), representing Panama at the 2017 Bolivarian Games in Colombia, a top 5 finish in the 2019 FEI World Challenge, a gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a 7th-place overall finish at the 2023 Caribbean Games, a result that qualified her directly for the Pan American Games.

After being based in Guatemala, Marissa relocated to Wellington, Florida, where she worked closely with Olympic Venezuelan rider Luis Fernando Larrazabal, further refining her skills at the highest level of the sport.

Building on this experience, she later branched out independently with the support of a new sponsor, Autódromo Panamá, to establish a training and boarding program focused on young horse development and amateur rider training.

Marissa’s program serves both local and international clients. In addition to training and competing, she sources and develops young horses in Europe and the United States for sale in both the American and Latin American markets, acts as a dealer for experienced resale horses tailored to her clients’ needs, and has successfully sold and leased multiple horses.

She has also guided one of her junior clients to an outstanding 5th-place overall finish at the 2025 FEI Jumping North American Youth Championships in Traverse City, Michigan.

Marissa remains deeply committed to advancing her riding and training. She continues to expand her international network to source the highest-quality young horses to help her clients achieve their goals, while further strengthening her program with the objective of developing a future Olympic mount and representing Panama on the world stage.
